Hi, so I’ll just give a brief summary and include further resources with more info here. I took the UCAT in 2024, aiming for entry this year:

UCAT has changed for 2025, so it now has 3 sections: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning. As abstract reasoning has been removed. These are scored out of 900 each and the maximum total is 2700. There is also a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) which tests your ethical thinking skills and is scored out of Band 1-4 where Band 1 is the highest. Most unis will only accept Band 1-3, but a few accept Band 4.

Do look at the UCAT website for further information, including timings.

https://www.ucat.ac.uk/about-ucat/ucat-2025/#:~:text=The%20UCAT%20is%20changing.,alongside%20the%20Situational%20Judgement%20Test.

In terms of how to prepare, I would recommend leaving the official practice papers on the UCAT till later (the UCAT website will not update with the new format until around March 2025 anyway). Practice resources I recommend are Medify or MedEntry. I personally used MedEntry more but occasionally used Medify.

I would also recommend trying some practice tests to gauge your ability (not the official ones), for example the free trial ones on MedEntry. Then you can see where to focus on.

Hope this helps and I’ll link the websites below

If most of the medical schools don’t accept your degree, it may be worth contacting the admissions team just to check. Foundation year may be an option, this is just to help you on track for a year in terms of making sure you have a good foundation in scientific content ready for joining a medical degree the year after. They are mostly offered for international students whose degrees may not be accepted or students who are not taking all the subjects required.
