Applying to Trinity College Dublin during gap-year

Hi,
I'm currently in Upper Sixth (Year 13) and will be applying for universities next year, during my gap year. I am planning on applying to five UK universities (tbd), Trinity College Dublin and possibly another Irish uni. I know that if I apply to UK unis with my completed grades, then I will get my offers quite quickly, but I was wondering if I would get an offer from TCD in August 2026, or before then?

Aug '26.
They use an Irish university entrance exam system which all domestic candidates take (Leaving Cert).Your A Levels will be converted to their best estimate of an equivalent score for their system.
Places will be offered strictly on the basis of the scores of candidates applying to the relevant course, so they won't know your position on the list until the '26 scores are available for the other candidates. They have no interest in GCSEs, extra-curriculars, stories about your interest in the subject etc.
However, if you look up your preferred course on their website they indicate the score of the lowest scoring successful candidate last year. If you convert your likely A Levels to the Irish LC score (google CAO A Level points conversion) you should get a good idea how likely an offer from them will be. Some courses usually require 4 A*s, quite a few 3A*s, but for those with lower demand (eg music) there are substantially lower typical grades.

You could apply for '25 and, if you get an offer in Aug '25, ask them to defer.
