Make sure you get A*A*A* in Maths, Further Maths and Economics at the very least for LSE. Oxford is a lottery for Economics & Management but there is a chance with PPE. Also, you could consider applying with your achieved grades i.e. certificates!!! 😉 lol UCL will accept you for sure and so will KCL, SOAS, QMUL and RHUL as well as Warwick. But LSE is a lottery. Oxford PPE is however much more likely to result in interviews and an offer.
I wonder which 5 A-Levels you're taking? Are you an INTERNATIONAL student? 😧 If so, LSE will be more likely to accept you with 70% International students. Also, you must write a 'stellar' UCAS Personal Statement, since the LSE can decide the decision to make an offer based on the UCAS Personal Statement. But remember the UCAS Personal Statement is changing next year?!

Yes IK abt the change, i'm also considering other courses like mathematics and philosophy or Philosophy, but i definitely know i want philosophy to be part of my degree, most likely as a joint degree cause i love lots of subjects but i hope to figure out my course choice soon. Im doing math, f math, econ, pol, EPQ on philosophy topic. Im a normal (not internaional) student at a normal sixth form with not outstanding results so i hope that increases my chances. Any other advice??

Hi,
I achieved 9877777776 at gcse with the 6 being in physics and 9 in maths. I did further maths too in which I got a 7, which was the highest grade at my school. Do I still have a chance at lse and even Cambridge?

Hi there,
Your GCSE grades are strong, especially with a 9 in Maths and a 7 in Further Maths. LSE and Cambridge place more emphasis on A-Level performance and subject choices, particularly for competitive courses like Maths with Economics. Having Further Maths as an A-Level subject will also be important for both institutions.
For LSE:

You still have a good chance since they look at the overall academic profile, and your top grades in Maths and Further Maths will stand out. Make sure your personal statement demonstrates strong mathematical ability and interest in economics.

For Cambridge:

Cambridge is highly competitive, so achieving top grades at A-Level (AAA or above) is crucial. If your GCSE grades reflect the context of your school (e.g., 7 in Further Maths being the highest grade possible), that will also be considered in your application.

In both cases, a strong performance in admissions tests (such as the MAT for Cambridge, if required) and excellent predicted grades will make a big difference. You’re still in a strong position—focus on acing your A-Levels and showcasing your passion for the course in your application!

Finally I'd also recommend having a look at contextual offers if that is relevant for you

Try to gain any finance-related work experience if you can.

Do not mention more than 3 books in your PS.

If I get predicted the grades that you have mentioned or higher, could I not apply for 2026 entry? do I not stand a chance?

How could you apply for 2026 if you only have gcses lol
