Business A level for a good university

I'm in y12 looking to do Economics at university, and I am currently doing Maths, Economics, Chemistry A level and Business AS level. I am confident that i can get A/A* in Maths and economics, but unsure about chemistry, as I got a B in my first assessment. Should I switch to Business A level and Chemistry AS, as then i will probably achieve a higher grade, and if I were to do Chemistry AS, I could spend more time on Maths and Economics in order to secure a high grade?

It depends what uni you are aiming for. The Business/Econ combo may be seen as too narrow and might make you less competitive for some unis. You probably don't even need the business AS level. IMO I'd say drop the business AS level and focus on improving your chemistry grade, science A levels are difficult and getting a B early in y12 is actually pretty good :smile:

Ah I see. Then I'd still say its better to have chemistry A level than business. It's a lot more respected (especially since you already do econ, theres really no need for business).

Check some of the unis you want to apply to, some unis mention they want a 'broad range' of subjects or they might have preferred A levels. If they don't, you might be ok with switching to business A level and chemistry AS if you think it will help you improve your grades. Try asking your teachers for advice too.
