Should there be less exams at GCSE level?

I accept some courses really lend themselves to exams in particular STEM but other options outdoor be used for things like English or History and other very wordy courses I had a couple of units at university that were assessed solely by course work (and I did a STEM course.)it actually worked quite well.

My friend did a history degree that was100% coursework assessed so it is possible.

Would a move away from exams for GCSE history English etc be possible or should they keep it as they are.

For certain subjects I'd say yes (in England).

to your main question yes there should be less exams, i had 21 exams during my GCSE exam period one after another, there was only one day with 2 exam on the same day all the rest, where one after another it was so long and tiring

I definitely think so at least the subjects that have coursework at a level as being dropped into coursework at a levels with no prior experience took a minute to adjust too

In principal, I would say yes. But against coursework is the fact that students cheat (a lot!!!). Teachers often turn a blind eye as they don't get paid extra for marking coursework and the whole system becomes somewhat of a sham. The is definitely the case for A-level coursework.
Yes, there should, absolutely. Exams are just a memory test and the real world doesn't work like that.

Fewer exams ...

When GCSEs came in many subjects had oursework and it worked well. When League tables and Ofsted started coursework became something parents got involved with and cheating started.

Coursework is good but it needs controlling ie doing in school under timed conditions.

yes because 4 papers for English is so unnecessary. ESPECIALLY since it’s all essays. The amount of times my hand has almost cramped on the last couple days of exam week. Petition to allow all students to type on a laptop, Chromebook or ANYTHING for english
