Special support loan

Hi. I was previously told the special support loan is only for undergraduate students.

While I was an undergraduate no one told me about this so it was never claimed is it possible if I can prove as I was eligible for it at the time I can claim back and be backdated for this?

What academic year are you trying to apply for the Special Support Loan? Have you finished your course? What makes you eligible for the Special Support Loan?

Hi. For my undergraduate degree from 2019-2023.

And for my pgce undergraduate maintenance loan in September 2024.

I was eligible due to having a disability being on high rate pip.

I was just never told at the time I would be eligible.

Hi Oliverbradley,

There is an option on the initial application as per the terms and conditions to indicate that you are in receipt of PIP/apply for the Special Support Element of the Maintenance Loan. Therefore if you wish to apply for this past the deadline, you would need to include a cover letter with your evidence that explains why you didn't select that option on the initial application for this to be considered on a case by case basis.
