With all of my financial aid, I will still need to earn a decent income to pay for my room and board, what are some good strategies to be smart in making this income? Preferably for it to be non-taxable?

Good question! It is always important to make money to support yourself while attending university. Based on my own experience, I highly recommend you get a part-time job that is flexible and allows you to earn a decent amount of money. Part-time jobs include being a student ambassador, working for your university student union or getting a part-time job near the university (supermarket, restaurant or even town)! To be fair, you won't be taxed unless you earn over £12,570 in a tax year which is not easy to earn considering you are doing part-time jobs as well as handling your academic work. The HMRC may tax you according to your earnings each month as they assume you get paid the same every month (your pay can vary due to holidays if you work more), however, they will return the amount of money to you if you do not earn over £12,570 in that tax year around April.
Moreover, budgeting also helps you to manage your money inflow and outflow. I hope my answer helps! 😆 All the best!
