Flat/ Apartment in London

Hi everyone. I just have a quick question. if anybody knows, would it be possible to find an apartment or a flat, something small but not shared for 2 university students in London or outside of London (but not too far)? My husband and I are in a desperate position. I have MS and until now my MIL has allowed us to live in her house, while she's away in another country but every time she comes back, staying in the house with her is generally impossible; she, let's say the case of a toxic mother-in-law. We're both uni students, responsible, (not trashing the place but looking after everything here very well, paying bills and managing her Airbnb business, while she's away). So now once she's back in the UK, we decided to move out and never be near her again. We're both on maintenance loan at the moment (max of it) and have 2 well-behaved cats. With my MS we think she generally will put me on my deathbed, so we're pretty desperate to get out and get our own little place. We've searched on numerous websites and most companies don't take students who are on maintenance loans and almost got scammed this week
We aren't employed at the moment, but we are planning to go away this upcoming autumn. We need to leave by the end of January 2025.
If anyone knows of any place or someone who's looking for people to rent out something small, or if there's a website that will help, please help. I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you.
