Access to HE via LearnDirect

hi, i’m currently a student in sixth form wanting to go onto optometry however with the subjects im currently doing, i can’t apply for optom in university. after sixth form, im planning to do an access course however no local college is providing any. i saw that there’s an online access course on learndirect that i can do but im not very fond of it. i’m scared that ill be scammed or it’s not trustworthy because of the mixed reviews ive seen here on TSR or online. can someone who’s done a course previously on learn direct please offer some help and answer any questions .

Hi OP, I'm currently doing an Access course with LearnDirect!
It's not a scam but you do have to wait for feedback on submitted units before you can send the following one. Feedback can take a while but there is an option to pay for next day feedback - I think it's a one off payment of around £100.
Just make sure the uni you're applying for accepts LearnDirect Access courses - most of them do but you don't want to waste your money if the uni of your choice doesn't.

I've taught on Access for over 10 years - you sound like a really enterprising student who thinks critically about things.
Learn Direct are a legit provider. In terms of weighing up any provider, check they are linked to an awarding body - it is Open Awards in the North West, and if you are in any doubt you can speak to Ofqual about that particular provider
