intercalation fees?

I am in my fourth year of medicine and am looking to intercalate for a year at a different university (closer to where I live).

I have heard a mix of responses from people regarding fees, some say the NHS covers it, others say it is not free. I am confused.

Will I have to cover the tuition costs if I intercalate after my 4th year (ie. when I am supposed to be in fifth year, but I am on my intercalated year instead)???

Thanks

This was a while ago now but I intercalated and only got an NHS bursary in my final (i.e. 6th) year of uni.

some people said that it turns the 5 year medical course into 6 years which means the NHS bursary funds the last 2 years (intercalation + 5th year)?

Didn't for me, but this was 10 years ago so things may well have changed.
