Studying in London as an international student?

Hey,

I applied for several universities in the UK including some in London. Is it worth studying there or should I rather choose a more quite city?

It depends on what you like. If you prefer City vibes, then studying in London is a good option.
However, attending University Open Days and exploring the surrounding areas is really helpful. It will help you get a feel and decide where you see yourself studying for 2 years or more.

Hi there,
My name is Jenna, and I am a first year City St George's, University of London Rep. I would say it is all up to personal preference between choosing a big city like London, or somewhere a bit quieter.

I am an international student as well, and recently moved to London from Canada. I was a bit worried at first because I have never lived in a city as big as London before, however I am so happy with my decision to move here. London is such an inspiring city, and provides so many opportunities. There are opportunities to learn, meet new people, and explore your various passions. In London, there is always something to do such as exploring the city through site seeing, attending museums and galleries, going to markets, trying different restaurants, and more! The endless activities can provide a great escape from academic work when things get stressful. Overall London is a very lively city that is a great place for students to learn about their passions and aspirations.

If you are worried that the big city might be overwhelming, there are also calmer areas in London that provide a nice break from the "busy". One of my favourite areas is Angel. Only a 15 minute walk from City St George's, University of London, this gorgeous area has many shops but also a lovely canal. Going for walks along the canal is so refreshing, and makes you forget you are in a big city. If you are hoping for some nature, London also has many gorgeous parks such as Regents Park and Hyde Park.

If you get the chance, I recommend attending University Open Days to see if you like the area to help give you a better sense of if you would like living there.

I hope I was able to help a bit 😄
Best,
Jenna
