Dropping out of PGCE & reapplying next year

hi thinking of dropping out of my PGCE course and reapplying for September this year with another provider (SCITT) as my mental health has been greatly affected by my current university and the format of a SCITT would suit me so much . Can i still apply for student finance england or will i have to self fund as I’ve paid two terms of my PGCE already and will i have to pay SFE right back after i have dropped out? Anyone help would be appreciated. I would be taking the
tuition loan and not applying for the matienence as id find a job and save up

Hi there,

Can you confirm the full name of new course, what university will you attend and the duration of the course? Will you have Qualified Teacher Status?

Thanks, Drew

Hi there, we would require the submission of the application once the new academic application have been launched, (estimated around March time at some point). as you have not gained the QTS, it is possible that this may still be classes as an exemption course.

However, if this is not, then you can submit Compelling Personal Reasons evidence instead to request an additional year of support (if required). If a student is unable to complete their course year due to a compelling personal reason, they may be able to receive an additional year of funding if able to provide acceptable evidence of this. Where applicable, we recommend the evidence is signed and dated and confirms the reason why you could not continue with your studies and when this took place (must be date specific). We can accept photocopies of medical evidence from a GP on headed paper, letters from your university on headed paper, letters from Social Services, clergy or professional person on headed paper and copies of death certificate and/or a birth certificates This list is not exhaustive and any evidence that may help your claim for compelling personal reasons (CPR) should be sent to us for consideration. This evidence can be uploaded via the online account. Thanks, Stephen.
