Physio without a science A Level but with a masters in an unrelated field

So I graduated from my masters in geography with distinction this summer from a top uni but have decided the academic/PhD dream isn’t really a dream. My work was in health geographies but I decided I wanted to go back and work clinically within the NHS hence wanting to go back and do physio- in part after having a serious injury during my time as a professional athlete. I am applying for the physio BSc at KCL, St George’s, southbank, Essex and UEL. I have good a levels in geography and politics and a distinction in BTEC sport (a level equivalent) alongside a 1st class BA and the masters above. Do I stand a chance? For note I underperformed at school as am both autistic and dyslexic but neither were diagnosed or acknowledged till I left school (I have written this in my personal statement) hence drastically under performing in my GCSE’s

As long as you meet the entry requirements for each of the courses you have applied to, you should be fine academically. Do you also have shadowing experience and public-facing work/volunteering experience?

Hiya @Dough_ball!

It is great that you are considering Essex as one of your options.😃

This is our entry requirements that we ask to be accepted into a BSc Physiotherapy.
GCSE: 6 GCSEs at C/4 or above (to include Mathematics, English Language and Science). Acceptable alternatives to our GCSE Maths and English requirements are listed further down this page.
BTEC: DDD in a relevant subject. More information about the BTECs we accept can be found on the school of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences Undergraduate page.

On the other hand we are able top offer you a foundation year which means your degree will be 4 years instead of 3 years.

I would recommend contacting our admissions team regarding this matter.
[email protected].

We have a wellbeing team at Essex that can help you adjust your studies to your needs.

If you have any further questions don't hesitate in getting in touch.😀
