Yeah! Irish can sound so American! I know this kid who has an Irish accent and I'd have thought he was an American if his nickname wasn't "Irish".

Seems more common than I realised. For those people who do mistake Irish for American, what are there chances of distinguishing American to Canadian? I find it hard at times, takes time to tell the difference when you don't have anything to compare straight away.
