No I meant, if people who were offered didn't accept, are those seats left empty or do others in the waitlist get selected? Is there a status for waitlist in the portal?

I don’t really know. I assume they issue more offers than actual places on the ‘first come, first served’ basis but I may be wrong.

Last year some people got moved to a waiting list around late March.

The anxiety is killing me, keep refreshing the portal every half an hour, but still still no dp. Really wish they’d roll all the offers out at once.

Now it changed to "Decision Pending - Your application is currently under review.". I think the change only happens when the panel in the department refer the recommendation to the college.
Guys, keep an eye on your inbox, good luck all!

Hey, I am also international fee status, doing my undergrad in a Scottish uni, pm ?

Good luck with the PhD application! This is something you might be able to shed some light on. How is the balance between home and international students (fees)? I saw on the MLMI forum does hitting the funding check boxes negatively impact your application at all?

Hi, home students do pay less than international students, but funding wise I think most of the course is self funded. MPhils at Cambridge in general rarely get funding but I know of a few students in my year who do have a scholarship. They are all international.

Does applying for funding affect whether you're being given an offer?

And no, funding is a completely separate process that is looked at after academic acceptance. You may not find out about funding until July, and applying for it doesn’t affect your chances. If you apply before the funding deadline you might receive your offer in the February batch - people who apply after will most likely be looked at in March/april. It’s recommended to usually apply early in general for this reason

were any of the offers sent out without being in decision pending first?

Congrats to everyone seeing movement! I’m a current student on the MPhil and a few of us have moved to decision pending on our PhD applications. If you have any questions about the MPhil I’ll be happy to answer; hopefully see you in October 🙂

Hi. Did you receive an offer for PhD after moving to DP?

Once you receive an admission recommendation from the department, how do you find out if your application has also been recommended for a Gates Scholarship?

hi not yet, I was told by a supervisor that my application was recommended but PAO haven't yet approved anything. I am still waiting for the official offer to come through.

Anyone got the ‘decision pending’ status or offer at this point?

Hi, first of all, congratulations on your PhD application being successful. I wonder that if you applied for the 2025 fall entry PhD as a master student in the 2024 fall term? Does this mean that I need to start my PhD application right after I begin my master course studies?

Am a current MPhil student. Yes, pretty much you will have to submit your PhD application concurrent with your MPhil thesis proposal haha.

Yeah exactly this. It’s not too fun but it’s made easier to apply to Cambridge for a PhD if you’re doing the MPhil. If you plan on applying to other places I suggest taking the year to just relax and enjoy your Masters, and then applying after you’ve finished!

Hi, the interview takes roughly 30 minutes and is usually over Zoom. Your experience at the interview varies depending on your interviewer, but you can expect to be asked technical questions about your peoposal and general knowledge of CS, as well as reasons for your module choices and your plan after completing the program.
