Will I move down to Set 2 for this?

Hi, I'm in Year 9 in England at the moment and I've just received my results for my latest maths test. I did absolutely awful - 12 out of 50 (I think? something like that) - and I'm not sure if I'll move down. The test before this, I got 35/48 which i was really happy with but even though I studied even harder for this test, I still did way worse. I really don't want to move down because it will be so embarrassing and I know I'll cry so can I have some tips on how to not make a big deal out of it if I do end up moving down? Thanks ❤

It really depends on the rest of the year group - if the test was really hard, and that was lets say higher than average, probably not. Also they have to take your other test in consideration too because obv everyone has some topics they’re better at. Its a 50/50 chance tbf, sometimes when you least expect it you get moved up or down, like for me somehow im in set 1 english even though i got lower then half of the year group. And trust me, ive been set 2 maths before, its acc great, i would move down if i could. Idk about yours but set 2 was so chill, and I acc learnt stuff that year - in set 1 you’re expected to know everything and they rush through all the content. Dw it is not embarrassing in the slightest, your still in year 9 so you have plenty of chances still to move up.

tysm ❤️ i actually didnt get moved down but i did the set 2 test this time (my teacher just gave it to me, i didnt ask or anything) and i got 40/50 which i am sooo happy with :smile:
