How many safe unis should I apply to?

I am hoping to do a Law and French Law degree at a Russell Group university. My GCSE mocks were 999999988.
I am doing Maths, English Lit and French at A-Level with an EPQ.
How many safe universities should I apply to? My top unis are: UCL, KCL, Exeter, Southampton and Oxford.
Should I apply to just these universities or do I need 1 or 2 safer options?

Are there any "safe" universities that you would be happy to go to?
What would you do if you got lower grades than expected and didn't get into your preferred university or insurance choice in August?

It would depend on your A level grades but Exeter and Southampton seem like pretty safe options (Just based on UCAS offer rates), so I think your current choices should be fine. Well done on your GCSE mocks btw those are amazing grades

Thanks - I thought Southampton would be a safer option possibly as they sometimes lower offers since I will do an EPQ

I also like Leicester so maybe that’s a safer option

The usual advice for your 5 UCAS choices :
1 choice just above your predicted grades - risky but worth a punt.
3 choices at your predicted grades - these are your most likely offers.
1 choice a couple of grades below your predicted grades.

And - if applying to Oxford or KCL, UCL, LSE, remember that ALL of these are risky even if you meet or exceed the required grades.
