I'm struggling to choose from just pure accounting and finance OR accounting and finance with a placement year. I'd prefer to apply for the placement year but is there something specific admissions tutors look for in your personal statement when applying for placement year rather than just accounting and finance?

If you prefer the course with a placement year, then that's the course for which you should apply. The admission team won't be looking for anything specific in the personal statement of such applicants.
