How is Birkbeck math graduate diploma?

Hi everyone, I'm considering taking a math graduate diploma with Birkbeck but have some questions wondering if I can get some feedback here.

I already have a bachelor degree in engineering and I'm currently working full time as a software engineer in London. I really like to further develop my mathematics skills. But I don't think I have enough knowledge to go into MS Math directly. That's why I'm looking for either a graduate diploma or another BS in math first.

Since I work full time, there aren't many options out there. Birkbeck offers graduate diploma programs in part time over 2 years. It seems this is what I'm looking for.

Questions
* Has anyone studied in this program before? What was your experience?
* If I want to go further with MS or even a PhD in the future, is graduate diploma enough?

Also, another option seems to be OU. But I'm seeing some feedback that the courses are less challenging than normal university for someone who already has a degree in BS.

It’s a pretty poor course, I’m on the mathematics graduate certificate, the materials are dire.

Why and what makes you you say this? Could you provide an example please? I was also thinking about taking the course PT

To do a PhD, you need a full MSc. An MSc from Birkbeck would allow you to do a PhD providing you achieve a solid result. Know that a Graduate Cert has less content than a Grad Diploma, which has less content than the MSc. However an Engineering background would play against you in applying for a PhD in Math, but you could still do one in Applied Math for Engineering (numerical simulations etc). A PhD in Maths requires strong foundations in proof methods, which takes year to develop, usually through an undergraduate Math degree.
