Medicine doesn’t really work with UCAS points. It requires specific subject grades at A level or equivalent.

UCAS points is irrelevant for most med school application.

What's important are GCSE, A level predictions and UCAT. Of which the latter two holds higher priority. GCSE are needed and scored for/by unis such as Oxford, KCL, Newcastle, Leeds, QUB, Leicester etc. Many other med schools only look at minimum GCSE.

Would 10 GCSEs with grades 7+ in sciences, maths and english and the rest 5s and 6s still allow me to get into a med school? Are my chances still realistic?

Yes, you need to make sure the med schools you apply to does not score GCSE. MORE importantly you need to have a starling UCAT score.

Unfortunately this is a maze that I went through myself when applying for med school last October. I will start a thread later after my A exam this summer.

List of med schools that score GCSE:

Oxford
Newcastle
KCL
Leicester
Birmingham
Edinburgh
Aston
Aberdeen
Cambridge (they don't score GCSE in black and white, but expect applicants to have stellar GCSE)
Nottingham/Lincoln (UCAT SJT band emphasis, though GCSE is scored)
Leeds (ambiguous and unclear how they would assess but GCSE is definitely scored, its the least transparent med school, not being critical on them)

Some med schools only consider predicted A level, which can be a bit off-side as predicted A's can be inflated.

You will need to look into the finer details for each uni to see the difference in scoring. It's not a full nor comprehensive list but covers what you possibly need for now.
