Geography igcse edexcel paper 2

Hi, This is the June 2022 Paper 2 Geography. My Exam board is Edexcel and this is Question H, Section A. It's supposed to be out of 25 marks.

Question: Study Figure 3c in the Resource Booklet.

Analyse the environmental challenges facing urban areas in developed countries.

My Answer:

One of the environmental challenges you face in developed countries is to provide food, there is a high demand in food due to the population rising. For example in London, UK the food sector are for £20 billion and that is for 10% of jobs in the city. Not to mention the increase in food price.

They are attempting a new recycling facility to try and reduce the amount of waste going into landfill. In London some waste is disposed of in landfill sites, some is burned to generate electricity and some is recycled. On average most households in London produce around 1000 kg of waste yearly. I think to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill they need to recycle more. To reduce waste going into landfill London has been implementing policies to encourage recycling of materials and in 2024 only around 5% of London's waste still goes into landfill.
