Hi @Simrasaied

I can’t speak for the law school but Lancaster is a good university in general. The study spaces are good with bookable pods in the library and learning zone. Dropping out and reapplying sounds like a big step so make sure you are sure about what you want.

Hi @Simrasaied

Whilst I am not a law student, I have friends that do law and they enjoy the course and gain a wide understanding due to the range of topics taught to you. Law at Lancaster Uni is 5th for student experience and 9th for teaching quality on The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide uni rankings! There is also a mock courtroom that you use as part of the Law course! You can speak to a current student about studying law here Ask a Student - Lancaster University

Hope this helps,
Rachel -Lancaster Uni Student Ambassador.

Hello @Simrasaied

I am a 4th year LLB Law (Study Abroad) student at Lancaster so feel like I can offer some perspective. In all honesty, I have really enjoyed my time at Lancaster, studying Law specifically. Aside from the compulsory modules, which I am sure you are aware of, we have a plethora of interesting modules with some really great lecturers, Mediation and Conflict Resolution and Health Care Law and Ethics are my favourites so far, however these are subject to change so are not guaranteed every year.

When you come to Lancaster you are allocated an academic advisor who is a lecturer in the Law school, you will meet with them termly to ensure that you are on the right tracks and also assess if you need any more support put in place. You can also meet with any of your lecturers during their designated office hour, or even if you drop them an email, they are usually very helpful!

We have a very active Law society currently (probably the best one I have seen during my time), they hold weekly academic and non-academic events, including internal mooting and negotiation competitions, workshops, Law ball formals, networking events - the lot! If you were unhappy with the way things were running in the society at your time at Lancaster, feel free to join the executive and help form the society you want!

We have plenty study spaces on campus, however these can get busy during exam season, which is expected. They range from individual study spaces and group study spaces that you can book in the library, as well as the management school, the learning zone and LEC (Lancaster Environment Centre) which has a nice quad study space that is nice and bright to study in in the summer!

If you have any more questions about Lancaster or Law specifically, please feel free to ask!

you really summoned all the lancaster representatives with this post 😄 comparatively with salford, lancaster is by far a better university, particularly for law where university reputation really matters. of the newer universities, lancaster is one of the best, and it even competes with some of the older "more presitigous" russell group universities.

Hey @Simrasaied,

So sorry to hear you're looking at leaving - although its always worth following the path best for you. From our end, definitely have a chat with your Student Progression Admin in the Business School to make sure you're aware of all the steps required if you do decide to transfer universities, and always make sure you've got everything ready and 100% confirmed at your new university before withdrawing from your original - you don't want to find yourself with no university place!

Good luck for the future - I hope all goes well!
