Kingston Uni

I'm considering Kingston Uni for Fine Art but ideally wanted a campus Uni - what's it like studying at Kingston? is it easy to make friends? does it have good social life? What's it like having the Uni spread across different campuses, is it disjointed?

Hi @Shellfish1

Great to hear that you are considering studying at Kingston!

I don't personally study fine art here but I am based at the Knights Park campus where Kingston School of Art is based. As a fine art student your studios are usually based at the Avionics building just over the bridge from Knights Park or River House which is about a 10 minute walk from Knights Park.

Knights Park is a lovely campus with a river running alongside it, making the outdoor space a great place to go and socialise. The Student Union bar is also based there, which holds lots of great events. I have recently made a post about the events at Kington which I will leave a link to Student Organised Events Happening at Kingston University

Here is An Overview of Kingston's Four Campuses to give you some more information. Penrhyn Road is a 10 minute walk from Knights Park, so I am often at both campuses each of the libraries. You can definitely meet people from all four campuses, I have found especially through joining a society and working as a Student Ambassador for the university I have made friends with a range of people. The societies and events make it easy to meet people and often you make friends with the people on your course, especially in fine art spending time in the studios with each other.

I have done another post that I will link about social life. I find with living so close to the central of London there is always something to do and with Kingston being a student town there is a good social life there too. Social Life and Night Life at Kingston

I quite like there being different campus as it means you are based on a campus with other students studying similar subjects so it feels like a nice community. Especially if you live in Middle Mill Halls in the first year, you are basically on the Knights Park campus so everything is in one place. I have found even at campus uni's you venture out to the nearest town for the social life and doing things like the food shop , so it is pretty similar to that.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask
