Maintance Loan

Hey,

I hope you are all well,

I have a few questions that I’m a bit confused about. Firstly, I can see on my login portal that my application has been approved and that the payments have been scheduled. However, I’ve also received an email stating that I need to submit more evidence. Secondly, I qualify as a student independent because I’ve been supporting myself for three years.

Nevertheless, I only received approval for half of the maintenance loan. I live and study in London, and to be fair, I applied a bit late since my course starts in November and I applied in December. Could this be the reason why, as I applied for the maximum amount, I only received half?

Thank you.

Hi there,

You would have been awarded the basic amount if we required further evidence from you. The evidence we asked for, is this relating to your 3 years self support?

Thanks,
Claire

The basic amount will be a low amount of finance not being means tested, that anyone eligible can apply for. If we have asked for further evidence, we will need this first before we can reassess the application for the higher amount.

Thanks,
Claire

Hi Claire,

Oh, I see! I’m so sorry. I just read about how everything actually works. I’ve submitted a HMRC document showing my earnings for a year and some payslips that aren’t included in the HMRC document. Hopefully, that’s enough.

So, I’m guessing if I end up being qualified as an independent student, I’ll receive the rest of my loan in the following payments, right?

Thanks,

Hi there, once processed and updated then any monies owed to you would then be backdated 1-3 working days after it's processed. Your next instalment(s) will also be reassessed and corrected. Thanks, Jason
