Thats amazing. As long as you get a good UCAT score, you should have high chances.

Check the kcl website, but they do score gcse's with 9's and 8's getting max scores. You lose point with any gcse's lower than that but do check

I got very similar GCSEs (9988877776, which would score the same number of points as yours) and received an interview from Kings. Honestly, it was mostly my UCAT score of 2960 Band 2 that secured it, but having those 5A* as GCSEs did get me some points. Don't be too down that you don't have 8A*, just focus on how you're going to prepare for the UCAT when you get to that stage. The UCAT is easily the most important part of the application process, which doesn't mean neglecting the others, but rather that you should put more effort into UCAT strategies and plans. Something to think about when applications come around in October. Good luck and God bless

Hi, I really want to go KCL dental school, however I am not sure if my GCSE will be at a disadvantage. I got 9999997766 at GCSE with the 6s in English lit and French. However I have A*A*A*A prediction and if I do well on UCAT is there a chance I can get in?

Hi

If you check the link, your GCSEs definitely meet the minimum requirements so there is no worry in that regard. As for their scoring, at least for 2025 entry and earlier, your 6A*s mean you'd be given 20 points which is a good start. Your predicted grades are great and certainly exceed the requirements, but unfortunately they don't account for any extra scoring due to King's application comparison process not being inclusive of your A-Levels. The next, and most important aspect of your application, is your UCAT score. King's place a 45% weighting on this score plus 5% for SJT, although this is subject to change because of the alterations in the exam structure of the UCAT with AR's removal. Generally, a UCAT in the top two deciles is competitive enough for an interview but unfortunately no one knows what that will look like since it is now out of 2700. The key message is to begin UCAT prep as soon as possible, starting small and incrementally increasing in both time and intensity.

Just an update for anyone who wants it but I went to KCL for their open day and when I asked about grades they said that they view everything as a whole. When I asked about my GCSE grades they said that as long as I get a good UCAT score and the predicted grades then I will be fine. The area you went to high school can also play a slight factor as a 9 from a private school weighs less than a 9 from a 'bad' state school.

Thanks for this - what do KCL deem as a 'good' UCAT score?

From what I read on their website, they score your best 8 subjects only, and they give maximum scores for each 8or9 grades. So, a grade 7 would be slightly less than the maximum and so on. But I could not find out exactly how much a grade 7 or grade 6 would score.

Hi guys, does anyone know if I have a chance for KCL Dentistry if I didn’t take GCSE (I am an international applicant)?

Guys do kings score grade 8s and 9s the same? Like are they both considered A*s?

Hi, I just wanted to ask if they only take your top 8 gcses (including math & English lang I’m guessing) does that mean u could do a few more gcses and get 8/9s in them to push the lower gcses out the point system as my current gcses are 998776653 (the 3 in comp science) Thank you.

There’s probably some caveats about everything being in one sitting and/or restrictions on resits. Idk for sure.
