Is it weird I do not want uni to end?

I am approaching the end of my third and final year at university, but I do not want it to end as I feel it has helped me manage my time better and be more organised. Also is it not normal that I do not know what to do when I graduate?
Any advice would be appreciated
Hi There!
This is not weird at all.
There are options availably to you if you want to stay in higher education such as studying an MA or Postgraduate course. You could even study these at a different university in another city to further enriching your student experience.
If you decide that you don't want to continue with higher education, speak to your lecturers and personal tutors about your future and see if they can offer you any advice and support.
I'm currently studying my MA part time (over 2 years rather than one) this way I am able to work part time and still study at university and take my time over the degree. Plus it works out cheaper as the course fees are spread between the two years.
Whatever you decide to do after university, just make sure it's something you want to do that makes you happy.
I hope this helps,

Hi @Amin7,

It's completely normal to feel apprehensive about the end of university—you're not alone in this! I've been feeling like this too as I'm approaching graduation. University is a structured environment that helps many of us develop better habits, like time management and organisation, so it's understandable you'd want to hold onto that. As for not knowing what to do after graduation, that's also very common. Many students don't have a clear path immediately lined up, and that's okay.

I think it's really important to reach out for support, take advantage of your university’s career services while you’re still there. They can help with CV writing, interview prep, and even figuring out your career direction. You might even want to consider grad jobs or internships, even if you're unsure of your long-term goals, applying for graduate schemes or internships can give you a starting point. You can always pivot later.

Remember, the end of university is just the beginning of a new chapter. You don’t need to have all the answers right now. Take it one step at a time, and trust that things will fall into place

Hope this helps,

Hi there,

It is not weird at all!

It is great that you feel you have developed these skills from university. It's an ideal time to learn these essential skills, as well as develop friendships and knowledge to take us to the next step - wherever that may be. Higher education is always an option, plus apprenticeships and other routes. I'd recommend having a chat with the careers team, as they can let you know more about the options available for you.

It is also completely normal to not know what you'd like to do - I'm in the same boat! It can be daunting to have to make the next big decision, but I hope you feel some reassurance in the fact that you aren't truly alone. Definitely take some time to consider what you enjoy most, where you enjoy being, and what would be the best fit for you, and make use of support staff and your friends and family for advice.

I hope this helps,

Have you considered doing a masters? You could apply for one and have another year to plan your life,

Hi!

This is totally normal and a lot more common than you would think! Very few people have a clear idea of what they want to do after graduating, it can take years to figure this out. Additionally, university is a great and life building time, it is normal to be sad about this coming to an end. Focus on how much you have learnt and grown, you will take your university experience with you for the rest of your life so remember what has worked well for you. Whether this is time management strategies or a new favourite sport, there are ways to move forward and keep the aspects you have enjoyed about university with you.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂
