Applied law- Pearson Btec Unit 1

I'm doing my applied law exam tomorrow and I don't know what a file note format is. My teacher hasn't done any practice on it and I can't find any examples of it as Pearson doesn't show them. I really don't want to retake this exam. Any advice is helpful

Imagine that you had just met with a client to take instructions and/or to give advice, or that you had just attended a hearing of a client's case in court, or that you had just completed drafting a contract for a client, or that you are writing a note on a legal issue for the head of your department so that he or she can advise a client. Write a note for your law firm's file of what you did and/or what happened and/or what the answer to the legal problem is.

PS: I have no idea what your course requires. I have answered your question from the perspective of an experienced practising lawyer. I am sceptical about the utility of a course in "applied law" which is not taught by a current or former practising lawyer.

Thank you this was very helpful, my teacher is studying law at the moment but I don't think their method of teaching fits me. Also can the file note be in short paragraphs?

Studying law and practising law are not the same thing.

Use short sentences and short paragraphs in every document that you write, now and in your future career. Always use the active voice. Do not not use the passive voice. Avoid adverbs and adjectives. Use precise language. Check carefully for errors of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
