Why BCU appealed to me as an international student

Choosing the right university as an international student was a tedious and lengthy process. I wasn’t just choosing a place to study- I was practically choosing my second home and where I’d live for the next 3-4 years of my life. For me, BCU seemed like a place where I’d grow academically, socially and personally.

As an international student, adapting to a new environment on your own can be intimidating. One of the initial things that appealed to me about BCU was their emphasis on inclusion and diverse student body. BCU celebrates cultural diversity through their events and societies which made me feel welcomed.

BCU also places great importance on employability, offering a range of career-focused courses that combine theory with real-world practices. In my psychology course, we are constantly offered seminars and talks from current professionals relevant to the current job market demands.

Furthermore, the facilities here at BCU are extremely impressive. They have advanced labs and design studios, to a fully equipped library, all the resources and facilities here at BCU enhanced my experience as a university student.

Besides the university, Birmingham itself played a major influence in my decision. Being UK’s second-largest city, Birmingham seemed super multicultural which made it a great place for me as an international student. Being an international student, financial considerations are pretty important- Birmingham has relatively affordable living costs compared to other cities like London. I felt that in Birmingham, I could attain a high quality education, without compromising on finances.

Coming to BCU was definitely one of the best decisions I made. I was able to grow a lot as an individual, whilst achieving the academic goals I need to secure a good future. If you’re an international student considering coming to the UK, I highly recommend adding BCU to your options.
