EPQ urgent help

EPQ HELP NEEDED

Doing an EPQ, y12
Topic: politics
- I have a Project Progress Log, Activity Log and Source log
- Trying to hit all the AOs
- Even included my own models
- Using 4 research papers & 3 books from a range of sources
- Really want to get an A/A* in this - any tips and does this seem okay so far?!
Co-ordinator thinks so, but their advice is limited

Thanks

Hey, so I’m in y13 and did mine last year. I got an A (ONE mark off an A* - still bothers me). This sounds great, I will leave some of my own advice below, too. I hope this helps:

Don’t underestimate the value of the production log- being reflective of the whole process can gain you many marks!

Try and be specific in your question. Don’t try and cover too much.

Sources are great but make sure you don’t just quote them, you actually interpret and interact with them. How can the source be applied to data? Strengths or weaknesses of their opinion, etc. (obviously I don’t know your topic so it’s hard to comment but just try and use them rather than just put them in the essay).

Stay on top of it. I wrote mine quite early on and set myself weekly deadlines through creating a word doc, outlining what I wanted to achieve each week.

Don’t compare yourself to others! Everyone is doing very different topics and will all be on different timelines so don’t stress too much about that.

I would potentially have more than 7 sources! I think I had around 20.

Good luck.

I’m in Year 13, and my predicted EPQ grade is A*. I’m doing the 5000 words report one. My advice for you is to start your research as early as possible. I started my research late and kept changing my title constantly, which left me behind and required a lot of effort to catch up. Also, my coordinator suggested citing around 30 or more sources if you are aiming for an A or A*.

Hello - thanks so much for taking the time to reply, and in such detail. I will make the most of my sources, and certainly increase how many. Thanks a lot again - and wow, well done on an amazing grade!

That's fantastic thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I didn't fully appreciate the importance of how many sources, so I'm going to increase them for sure

Thanks a lot

you need at least 20 sources to get into the higher grade boundaries. This is just what my teacher has said.
