Final UCAS choices review

Ive narrowed down my university choices; I would just like a "second opinion" on them. I have predicted grades of AAA.

1. University of Bath (econ) A * AA
2. University of Nottingham (econ) A * AA
3. University of Bristol (econ+finance) AAA
4. St Andrews (econ) ABB-AAA
5. University of York (econ) AAA on their website, but ucas offer chance based on historical data was 80%+ for ABB

What would you say the chances of me receiving an offer from Bath or Bristol for straight econ, taking into account my personal statement as well (I had it reviewed by an ex-LSE admissions officer and he told me it was very good), given the typical offer is A*AA?

Realistically, you wont get an offer from Bath for Econ. Its one of the most competitive courses in the country and many applicants who meet the entry requirements will be rejected. Nottingham may be similar.
And be careful with the UCAS 'offer' stats - it means 'who was accepted in August', not 'who got an offer'.

If you forget Bath and have Nottingham as your one 'risky choice', then given how competitive Econ is, you really need more AAB / ABB choices to be certain of offers - and flexibility in August if you miss AAA :
Undergraduate courses | Economics | The University of Sheffield
Economics - Cardiff Business School - Cardiff University
Economics BSc (Hons) - 2025/26 entry - Courses - University of Liverpool
Economics, undergraduate courses : University of Sussex
etc
Bath made offers to 17/20 applicants from 2020-2023 for Econ. An 85% offer rate isn't that competitive.....it's pretty much the rate you'd get by only rejecting those who apply without 3 A levels or without maths A level

NOTE: the UCAS historical entry grades information for specific grades is based on the actual grades of those who got an offer. The ratio of offers made is based on the overall offer rate to ALL A level applicants. For York that's 19/20 or 95% so they aren't rejecting anyone unless they don't have maths.

Hi, i ended up applying to Bath (econ), Bristol (econ&fin), Manchester (econ, York (econ), Reading (econ). I’m more comfortable with this now after your reply. My whole thought process was that even if i don’t get an offer from bath, i’ll still have bristol and manchester which are both very strong courses and that if i was to pick nottingham it would’ve almost been too “safe” as i have 2 for AAA already so why not add bath and see what happens. i really hope they do look at my PS (i do think it’s really strong and might help me getting an offer) as well because my uni councilor told me depending on who’s reading they might only look for buzzwords. Do you know as to when offers will start coming out? for bath there wasn’t many yet so it looks like they’ll be waiting till applications close to then review them.

Is this true for Nottingham’s BEng courses as well? 🫠
