The Student Room Group

Access to Leeds application help!!

Hi, so in the application it asks if any personal circumstances have disrupted my studies and I’m wanting to select yes as i did deal with really bad mental health issues which lead me to basically having really bad attendance in y13 since i basically didn’t see the point of going to college or university. I did get in contact with our health and wellbeing support team back in y12 but i quit after a bit because it wasn’t with an actual therapist just some afterschool classwork help. In y13, i opened up to my tutor about my issues and she recommended me getting back into contact with the wellbeing team which i did and i was supposed to go to appointments but even then I couldn’t find any motivation or reason to leave me room at all. I had even told my vice head since he questioned me on why my attendance was really low (like 50%…) and so I told him and he understood and was considerate of me and my situation. Butttt since I don’t have an actual diagnosed mental health issue, would it be wrong for me to select yes, or should I just explain in more detail in the box they’ve provided below with 150 word count?

Hi! I would suggest maybe clicking it and perhaps talk about how you struggled with symptoms of which mental health issue you were struggling with but maybe show you haven't officially been diagnosed. During my application I needed a reference to talk about my situation, and I assume it will be the same for you. So you can always try and get one of the members of staff you mentioned who know about this to write your reference?
