Within the first two weeks i was concise with the time management of the tasks i.e. the record of initial ideas , part a candidate proposal . However after this i began to feel unmotivated as i started to feel behind when everyone began their research and were completing their tasks . All the given tasks started to take a little longer and so i had to extend the tasks . To stay organised i created a Gantt chart and a google doc with the key dates so i can stay on track with the various tasks . So far i have analysed various articles and pieces of literature regarding the detrimental affect of the internet and how society is changing which have helped me to keep track of my investigation .

Overall I have started to complete my dissertation of 5000 words on the topic I have chosen which is “How does the internet impact children?“. Initially I struggled to choose a question focus and by researching across the internet using resources like Pub med , Google scholar and statita I have gained a firm foundation and the confidence to write about how internet affects children in their development . I struggled to find a beginning point with my research ; however now I have been able to access data that are professors of different careers such as psychologists, sociologists, speech and language therapists .I have ensured that all my research so far has a footnote and a citation ready to use for my dissertation and have began using a wide range of resources including articles, websites and I now have gained knowledge of resources outside of the internet such as educational books . In the beginning of my project I initially had the title of "The Internet is damaging to young people and has negative implications " how far do you agree? ”. However my supervisor advised me that my title seems to be more of a narrative and would be more difficult to come to a conclusion with and therefore as I self concluded that my research is overall focused closely towards children . Therefore I decided to change my title to “ how does internet impact young children” making it easier to answer and come to a conclusion with. So far I am pleased with my progress that I am structuring a coherent and well informed argument . I have decided to take my research further by including primary research which I will be completing on January 7th with a 1 to 1 meeting with a speech and language therapists to discuss my before topic . I will do this by creating a questionnaire and also asking questions that I can ask in the meeting . I will remain ethical by getting informed consent and also giving them the right to withdraw . Adding onto this I also have work experience within a nursery in which I will ask the staff to complete a pre written questionnaire with the same ethical guidelines . However one thing I have struggled with is balancing my research and using the research and findings that are most applicable to my topic . To deal with this I am assessing the merits and validity of the study i.e. where it is from , what date was it released and will aim to make it as accurate as possible to create a accurate dissertation . Generally I succeeded in creating a set structure for my epq that I will be using within my actual dissertation .This has helped me significantly in sorting my research into the different topics. Although i have multiple factors for research i aim to look into more websites that i can use as it has taken me a bit longer to adjust to the independency of the EPQ and so i believe my research can be exceeded to a better standard . Adding onto this for research I will also be looking into various interviews on the internet such as off YouTube and evaluate whether it is a reliable source or not
