university of edinburgh Vet med rejection

I just got rejected despite being predicted 4 A*s and around 100 hours of work experience. I didn’t even get a chance for an interview. May I ask someone who did receive an invitation what I should do to secure an interview when I reapply next year?

Assuming Edinburgh isn't the only place you applied for vet med, its likely you haven't received all your decisions yet, how come you've decided you're already reapplying next year? I understand you might like the university very much but vet med is an extremely selective course as is, for which different unis look for different types of students. I would recommend being open to other vet schools and seeing what opportunities arise.

Thanks! I do understand this, but what I mean is that if I don’t receive any offers in the end, I will have to reapply

We've just had a rejection too. I think it's really simply the number of high quality applicants and try not to take it too personally. Very much easier said than done though I know. We're RUK applicant. Only 30-odd places so rejection has to be normal unfortunately.

Are you Scottish or rest of UK? We're waiting post EPQ for Glasgow but have been advised it was a bit silly to apply to 2 Scottish ones from England...... but my son liked the Scottish courses and cities.
We thankfully have a Liverpool offer. Assuming it's likely to be out only offer but very thankful to have it and Liverpool looks great.
Rejection is hard. My son heard re tge rehection from Edinburgh on his way through his school between Chemistry and Psychology Alevel mocks today!

I moved to the UK three years ago, so they consider me a UK applicant which is unexpected.I thought that I will be an international so i didn’t considered this which is silly.

Hey, I have an invite for interview at edi next week. My application was 39 IB points ( pretty much equivalent to 4A*s) and 175 hours of work experience. I have a friend who also did IB and is studying at Edinburgh vet school now so I think the reason I have an interview is because they do seem to like IB. I’m an English y13 student. Just an insight  Try and stay positive I know it’s hard 🙂

Hiya, just to let you know edinburgh dont accept re applicants for vet med. if you still have others to hear from i definitely would go for it if you get an offer because at the end of the day, you will come out with the same degree.

you can apply to Edinburgh undergrad up to two times so you can re apply once

I think it's jyst particularly tough for the Scottish unis not personal jyst numbers.

exactly the same situation, RUK fee international student, got 200 hours of work experience with wide range of professions and species, got pre-interview rejection, i guess my personal statement wasn’t strong enough to be considered
i comepletely understand how u feel as i personally got two pre-interview rejections, i felt awful when i receive the UCAS notification as first but i quicklyrealised at the end we are gonna come out with the same degree, getting rejected is sometime due to luck, people i know got a cambridge offer but been rejected by all 3 other unis, rejection doesn’t mean anything and we only need one offer to be a vet, so don’t be so harsh on yourself of getting rejections🫶🏻stay positive!!

Hiya I think the Edinburgh lot only interview 40% so it probably goes on what you put in your work experience form- I think it said something along the lines of a brief outline of duties but then no max amount of characters.

Hopefully your other three will give you interviews/ offers
Good luck
