Hi there! I've decided to start a GYG to motivate myself to study and hopefully incrementally improve my performance and maybe enjoy studying! I hope you'll join me on this journey (and nudge me if I start slacking a bit).

I decided to start it up today, as a sort of new year's resolution and I'll properly start tomorrow as it's a bit late right now, however I will make myself a checklist of things to do that I will update as I do them

Checklist for the (rest of the) week:
ೃ⁀➷ Do Biology homework on immunity ███████ 100%
ೃ⁀➷ Revise for maths test (pure only - next week) ███ 50%
ೃ⁀➷ Revise for chemistry test (next week) ██████ 90%
ೃ⁀➷ Do some textbook questions on parametric equations
ೃ⁀➷ Keep looking over the UCAT (watching videos, trying questions)

Following along

Also with UCAT I wouldn’t stress too much about it right now. I looked at the format of it once in may, started revision end of july, did it mid September. And that’s was two months ish of about 2hrs per day (and I had an extra subsection to revise for). You run the risk of burning out if you start too early or even just forgetting your strategies. So just be cautious about that but it’s good that you’re aware of what it’ll be like at least

tyy
And I completely get what you're saying, I think I tend to stress out about things a lot so I thought I'd start just by watching some videos and understanding how it all works and maybe doing an hour or so a week just to slowly build up to it so I'll hopefully not burn out
HI :hi:
I'm also in Y12 doing Bio, Chem, Maths, FM and an EPQ (same exam boards apart from chemistry) and I want to go into medicine as well. What's your favourite subject so far?

hii, that's a difficult question, if I had to choose, maybe chemistry? I love organic chem and learning about bond angles and molecule shapes has been really interesting! What would you say your favourite is?
I would say my favourite is either bio or fm rn. I also like bonding specifically in chem. Do you read a lot and if so what genre do you like? And also i like how you've structured your GYG, and the first post as well, mine is just like big titles, small everything else loll

Over the summer I read a lot of thrillers and I absolutely loved that, but a lot of the books had cliff hangers which I hate lol. But that was all fiction and I'm trying to get into non-fiction as I think it's probably more useful, but the book I read (On Being Mortal) hardly felt different to fiction, it was like bits of people's lives mixed in with real cases and issues which was super interesting to read! And thank youu, I love making things look nice because it makes me feel accomplished for some reason 😅
I took a quick look at your GYG and it's amazing, love the life updates and congrats on being prefect! (ik i'm a bit late hehe)

Hello. I'm also a Year 12 but I do Geography (AQA), History (Edexcel) and Sociology (AQA). How are you finding Year 12 so far?

That’s an interesting choice of subjects, what are you planning on doing post 18?
So far I’m liking it, I think I’m not very good at remembering to go over things I’ve done already, so I might end up forgetting about some maths that we did at the beginning of the year but that’s what this GYG is for. I’m liking all my subjects and so far it’s not too stressful. How are you finding it?

Tyy, OMG I love thrillers as well! I do have a non fiction reading list of books for medicine but I keep putting off starting it loll. I also need to try posting on my GYG more regularly

It can be difficult to get into non-fiction books, the one I read, I literally only read like a couple pages a week, but I was determined to finish it before January so I just sped through it towards the end of December lol

I want to do a BA in Geography (or something similar)
It's going quite well so far but I'm still a little confused how to do History essays but apart from that it's going really well.
I'm going bowling tomorrow so looking forward to that.
Are you doing anything over the weekend?

Ooh sounds interesting! I’m sure the essay writing will be the kind of thing you’ll pick up as you go along, like the more you do the easier it’ll be.
Bowling sounds great, are you good at it would you say? I haven’t really got any plans this weekend but I need to revise for the tests next week so there’s that 😅

Just had a film night with the fam but it means it's a bit too late to do work - I'll honestly sleep instead of focus, so I'm going to try get an early night and then wake up early tomorrow to start doing some work.
I most especially need to focus on the maths exam, I am aiming for 90%+ which is so achievable if I work hard over the weekend, see you in the morning! ☀︎

Going to start with biology, doing the homework and writing up some notes then flashcards. I'll also try and go over some flashcards I made on water and ATP as it was only briefly looked at before the hols (but it is only a small bit we were taught)

I've decided to stop with the lyric music and I'm putting on some 'epic soundtracks' - really recommend studying with this, makes my whole life seem more cinematic lol

Hi! Im also in year 12 and do Maths and Biology for my a levels atm (both OCR). I have a gyg too which ill link here if you want to check it out 🙂
How have you found Biology so far? What topics have you been doing?
I also love listening to music whilst studying despite it slowing work down  What kind of music are you into?
Love your goals for the year! Im also planning to read more and do baking! I usually bake with my younger brother who is useless at following recipes (his creations are interesting, to be polite!).
