Gaining volunteer experience before my pharmacy interview

I'm a Year 13 student, and I’ve applied to pharmacy on UCAS. My interview is on the 29th of January, but I don’t have any work experience related to pharmacy or any volunteer experience. I did apply for volunteer roles at care homes and children’s houses, but I haven’t heard back yet. There’s a charity shop near my house, but I’d prefer to get experience where I can directly help and support people. At the same time, I’m worried that I don’t have enough good work experience to talk about in my interview, and I really want to improve my communication skills.

Is it too late to apply for other volunteer roles? Should I try volunteering at the charity shop, or should I call the care homes to follow up?

Experience for a week or 2 weeks probably won't mean as much in an interview and I doubt most unis will expect you to have any experience at this point. I'd suggest speaking to the careers department of your sixth form/college

You don't need any work-experience for Pharmacy - and Unis do not expect you to have any.

I disagree, even if it's a week or two, it's more about what you learned while you're there (quality over quantity) and it's to see what the job of a pharmacist is day to day. With the charity shop, you can still use that experience if you can't get any other shadowing opportunities cuz it still gives you the chance to improve your communication skills and being empathetic and helpful to the general public. But I do support the point that pharmacy unis don't demand or expect you to have work experience and they won't penalise you if you don't have it, so don't stress too much
