Personal statement for American student applying to only one school?

I'm an American student applying to the University of Lincoln for their Conservation of Cultural Heritage course. This is the only UK school I'm applying to--should my personal statement reflect this? Or is it better for me to not let the university know that they're the only one I want?

Is this an undergrad or postgrad course?

For undergrad it would be unusual to specifically write about a single uni in your personal statement (i.e. to mention it by name). I only applied to a single undergraduate course myself, but I didn't specifically talk about that university directly - I just wrote about the things I'd done that related to the course (and since it was only one course I was relating them to, I could be fairly specific about what I was writing and know it was relevant still).

Sounds great! No other universities you fancy having a look at just in case? I think Aberystwyth used to have similar courses but that might have been at postgrad level.

I think its best to just explain your interest in the course.

Yeah, most historical conservation courses are postgrad, even in the US. I'd briefly considered Cardiff as well, but the school is huge and their program isn't as well-funded as Lincoln.

Thanks! That's the basic assumption I've been working with, so I appreciate the confirmation.

Good luck! That course may be an outlier but in general personal statements just don't have the same importance applying for courses in the UK as ones in the US.
