Course Spotlight: Occupational Therapy

Have you ever heard of the profession Occupational Therapy or considered if it is the right career for you? :daydreaming:

If you are caring, creative and like to build trusting relationships then this career will be for you...

Occupational therapists help create solutions to everyday problems experienced by people or communities who access services.

Occupational therapists work with people and the community to enable them to carry out everyday activities (getting dressed, working, shopping, studying, playing sport).

However, there is a lot more to the profession...

Occupational therapists are essential to living. They give people's lives meaning, purpose and structure. They help shape who people are, connect them with others and help create identities and a sense of belonging. Through occupation they enhance health and quality of life.

Occupational therapists work with adults and children of all ages who have a wide range of conditions. Most commonly, they help those living with mental health conditions, or physical or learning disabilities. You will find them helping people live their best life in health organisations, social care services, housing, education and voluntary organisations.

Many occupational therapists practice independently too and work with members of the public, asylum seekers and refugees, alongside the police or fire services, or with psychiatric services.
