devising log aqa gcse drama

i have literally no idea how to write my devising log. my teachers keep telling me to explain stuff more and yap so much and they keep making me repeat my dramatic intentions EVERY single sentence, and even when i follow the exact structure they give and cover every single bullet point they give in so much detail, they still tell me to expand more or else im losing marks. i literally say my dramatic intentions at least twice in every single paragraph, and also i always cover all the dramatic devices in each section at least once, but they say i have to go into even more detail and im already so much above the word count. they dont give us any direction or anything and they literally go and drink coffee and show pictures of their kids to the english teachers in the middle of the lesson. can anyone who did drama last yearwho got good on the devising log tell me how they did it? im aiming for a 9 so i want to get full marks on the devising log if i could

Hiya. I did AQA gcse drama and got an 8. Not a 9 but still good. For my devising log I used very simple, straight-forward language. Remember its not english gcse, you dont need to use lots of fancy words, you wont get marks for that. This will then help to get your word count down. What you get marks for is how well you've explained your piece and why you made each and every choice. Begin at the start. What was your stimulus? Explain your first thoughts when you saw the stimulus. Perhaps this has now changed? Why did it change? 'WHY?' is a very important word to remember. WHY did you put that word in the script? WHY did you choose to have this character scream and shout? WHY did you make that choice? WHY did you choose this intention? WHY did you discuss this with your group? Etc etc. Then, think about HOW? Okay so you made this decision, youve talked about WHY you made this decision, now talk about HOW this was carried out. What dramatic techniques did you use? Did you change the script? Did you swap the order of some scenes? Did you have any conflict within the group? And finally, how did this come across to the audience? HOW did the audeience feel when watching? HOW did you want them to feel?

I hope this helps a bit. Please reply if you have more questions.

thank u so much! i feel like because i have to explain every step of the process, its like im explaining to a child so thats whats really making my word count too high, and i dont think ive put enough examples. i think ill get my friends to read my devising log too so they can tell me if theres any little bits that arent explained enough, because im the person who wrote it so i already understand all of it and i cant really see any bits that wouldnt be clear to someone else
