social anxiety at uni?

hi, i am applying to uni now in the UK and was wondering how university works when i have social anxiety? it's more like presentations and oral work in class and not really the making friends/social part. Do you think the uni could make an exception and allow me to not present anything? or is that wishful thinking?

Depending on the course you're doing, you might not need to present anything (I've had to do a total of one presentation throughout my whole degree, and that was in a group and didn't really count). For oral work in class, I've had to do vivas, although that just involves sitting across a table from an academic while they ask you about your work (and those were for project-based options I chose, so mostly avoidable).

I'm not sure whether they could make exceptions, depending on the degree, but alternative modes of assessment do exist, so they could at least make accommodations, or ensure you have adequate support in preparing for presentations. I'd recommend speaking to their mental heath support or disability advice teams when you join (I'm not sure of the exact details of how these things work, but I know they exist).
