options for uni without a levels

Ive dropped out of year 13 due to chronic fatigue and am looking for other options.

ultimately i want to be studying music at university but dont mind if it takes an extra year to get there

Top option is to do a one year foundation ‘creative artist’ course at ACM guildford as it is close to where i live so i can stay at home if i am still ill by then.

Anyone got any other suggestions for courses/qualifications that dont need a levels but could help me get into uni?

I suggest that you look at a 1-year Access to HE course : Access to Higher Education - however if you couldn't cope with Sixth Form, will you manage an intensive 9 month course?

the hope is that i will be significantly better by then, if not at least i should know how to manage it as i am starting multiple muscle and brain therapies along with specialised chronic fatigue help. If i can manage it then at least ill be aware of what i can and cant do.

Unfortunately im only 17 and am unable to do an access course til im 19 for all the music performance access to HE courses annoyingly

You will need a Level 3 course (A levels, BTEC, Access to HE etc) even for a Foundation course at a conventional University

There are a whole pile of daft 'colleges' out there ready to take your money - make sure that you are not wasting your time. ACM might call themselves "UK’s leading institution for music and creative arts" - they are nothing of the sort. THey have only been going since the 2000s, and don't ward their won degrees. On the ACM website it says "Our non-credit-bearing program acts as an access course to our degree" - or in other words its NOT a nationally recognised qualification, you get no piece of paper from this 'course' and it only leads to their degree. ACM is one of those 'here one minute, gone the next' colleges. I really would advise you not to do this - conventional A levels or a BTEC Extended Diploma will avoid any dramas and disappointments.

ah yes i agree with you tbh. i have never been convinced by ACM but it seemed like my only option. I have now recieved an unconditional offer from Bath spa and hopefully that means i need to get maximum two E’s which is doable this year.

thanks for your help

Just to fact check this, ACM is a regulated higher education provider in the same category as Universities. It has been operating since 1997 and awards degrees that are validated by Middlesex University, so the qualification you will receive is a full degree, exactly the same as at any other University.
