Really struggling in school

Hi I’m in yr12 and have joined a new sixth form. I used to go to a school in London then moved to another in year 10. Even thought I was new I didn’t find the first couple of months as hard as i am now in yr12. By January in yr10 I was able to make friends talk to anyone in my year and so on. People wanted to get to know me and I wanted to get to know them.

But in my newer school nobody really talks to me. I find myself in groups but I often get blanked or spoken over, left out when they’re grabbing lunch and so on. I’ve never experienced this and idk how to cope. I was on the verge of tears when I spent 2 hours in my EPQ class and nobody had said a word to me. I literally had to run out of class. I was so embarrassed. I have had good conversations with people in class but then it comes to lunch or break they pack up and leave without me.

I have been accepted into friendship group but they aren’t really like me. We really have nothing in common and our convos are quite dry. It’s still nice to her them around but can be quite isolating.

I really need help making friends. In my other school my friends said I was weird in the early stages of our friendship however they still embraced it and never left me out. They really made me feel appreciated.

Idk why I write this if it’s for advice or I just to rant but I need some coping skills. My year is small with less than 100 people in it so I don’t have much of a choice of making other friends. So any help or good words would be appreciated

Im by no means an expert on making friends (also in year 12 and havent made any yet) but i thought it might help you to know that youre not alone in finding this hard. It might just take time to find the right group of people. If your school has any enrichment options or clubs or anything that could help to find people of similar interests 🙂
