Can't upload requested documents

I've received an offer from the University of Plymouth and need to upload my GCSE certificate and employer reference via the portal. However, when I try to upload these to the portal in an accepted format (PDF and DOCX), it says: "An error has occurred. File content does not match file extension". Has this happened to anyone else?

Did you convert the documents to the new format using a PDF software and/or export to PDF format using office software, or did you just change the file extension on the filename?

I tried uploading the original PDF of my GCSE certificate and got that error. So I used the Adobe converter from PDF to Word and I still got the same error, if that makes sense

I think then there are two possibilities: the original file has some kind of error or corruption in it, or there's a bug on their upload platform.

If you are able to open the file on your PC with a PDF reader and email it to yourself and open the emailed attachment successfully with a PDF reader, then that would rule out the first possibility I would expect.

So if it is the second possibility you'll probably need to contact the uni in question to say you're having issues trying to upload to their platform. I'd double check the above if you haven't already to make sure it's not because the file itself is faulty!

I managed to upload it! I converted it from a Chrome PDF to a normal PDF. Thanks for your help!

Hiya! Glad you managed to upload okay in the end 😄

If you encounter any more issues in the meantime, you can reach out to the admissions team at admissions@plymouth.ac.uk

If you have any questions about the university in general too and want to ask a current student, feel free to reach out and I'm always happy to help!

Best of luck! 😊
