ukmt intermediate

i've recently got an email saying that I will be entered into the uk maths challenge this year with my school, this will be my first year doing it and I want to prepare but I've had a look over a past paper and I don't understand how I can revise for it or anything. can someone give me some tips or ideas of where to start off? im open to the idea of reading/buying books etc.
