Hi there,

It's understandable to have second thoughts about your university choices, especially considering the importance of location for networking and opportunities.

Opportunities in the North vs. London:

Northern Universities: Many have strong industry ties, especially in tech cities like Manchester and Leeds, and offer comprehensive career support. They also benefit from a lower cost of living, which can ease financial pressure and allow you to explore opportunities like internships.

London: Offers vast networking opportunities and proximity to numerous tech companies and startups, which can be beneficial for internships and job placements.

What to Consider:

Research: Investigate the specific engineering programs at your chosen universities to understand their industry connections and placement opportunities.

Reach Out: Contact university career services to inquire about specific partnerships with tech companies and available intern opportunities.

Geographical Flexibility: Your university location doesn’t have to dictate where you’ll work post-graduation. Focus on building skills that will allow you to be flexible with job locations in the future.

If you feel the pull towards London’s dynamic environment could significantly impact your career, consider switching one of your choices. However, remember that many students successfully launch their careers from universities outside London by leveraging the resources available.

Whatever your decision, make sure it aligns with your long-term professional goals and not just immediate concerns.

Hope this helps,
