could anyone currently at Lincoln, UEA, Nottingham or Liverpool let me know how it is, I've received all offers for psychology and have made my firm and insurance choice but I have one week left to make any changes. I live around Norfolk, so distance could be an issue for me, however if someone could let me know how it is and their situation of travelling home would be appreciated! I should also mention that I made my firm and insurance choice stupidly early because of the fact that I think about it every single day, so doing so gave me the thought that I would finally stop thinking about it.

I should also mention that I suffer with anxiety so I'm not entirely extroverted so idk if that makes much of a difference

Its accredited which is really important. If you like the modules then is seems a great choice if you are considering that being close to home is importatnt to you. It is early to firm but try to go on an offer holders day there so that you can help build familiarity and reduce anxiety. Also get in contact with them about your anxiety so that you can build in support.

Have you been to each Open Day?
Have you looked at each course in detail - including all the optional course units for all years of the course?
Are there any extras - like study abroad, work placements etc?
Is the course accredited by BPAS?

Lincoln is tiny - the size of a local college, and has no reputation for any subject.
The other three are much bigger, established Unis and all have good Psych depts.,
Moving away for Uni isn't something you should be worried about - most people do leave home - and either Notts or LP would be interesting, fun places to live.

thanks for all the replies. I think I'm going to stick with UEA as its not too far from home and is still a good uni (:

Hi there!

I’m currently at UEA doing a PhD in Biological Sciences. Honestly, UEA has been a fantastic experience supportive lecturers, a tight-knit campus community, and Norwich itself is a great city to live in. Plus, if you’re from Norfolk, you’d be close to home while still getting the full uni experience.

It sounds like you’ve been overthinking your choices (we’ve all been there!). I’d say give yourself a bit of space to step back and think about what environment you’ll be happiest in for the next three years. UEA is a place where you’ll feel supported both academically and socially, and I’ve always found it a great balance between calm and exciting.

Feel free to ask any specific questions if you need more! 😊

Best,
Daniel

Hi there,

Congrats on your offers!

I wouldn't worry too much about the distance to Liverpool - I have quite a few friends from Norfolk/East Anglia area and they manage to get back home fine for all the holidays and on the odd weekend, so trains will become your best friend here! Definitely worth investing in a railcard (1/3 of rail prices!)

If you're worried about the city being too much, especially with anxiety - I totally get that! For Uni of Liverpool, the campus is a bit further out of the city centre, so your accommodation won't be in the hustle and bustle of the city, but the city will still be really accessible from your home.

I personally don't find Liverpool as overwhelming as I find larger cities like London/Manchester/Birmingham as it's a lot smaller than those places, everything you could possibly need or want in the city is all walkable within 20-30 minutes! I actually find it really convenient, coming from somebody who is from quite a small village

Good luck with your decision!
