Help?? Pharmacy with low GCSEs??

hi I’m interested in studying pharmacy in uni of cardiff or ucl or kcl. I am predicted 3As (I am retaking my subjects as i got really low last year) but I have a grade 5 gcse in English (my maths grade is ok).
Is it worth it to apply? Will they consider me to an extent, I think I could be eligible for contextual offer but not sure as I match one or two factors.
Does anyone know if these unis are less focused on GCSEs?

u should deffo try to apply to less competitve unis because ucl and kcl are highly competitive so they probably only consider applicants that solidly meet their academic requirements. As long as you have passed english and maths in gcse, u should have no problem applying to unis for mpharm. also it doesnt matter what uni u go to, to study mpharm because it's the same course and skills you're learning

Hiya! For 2025 entry, the current A-Level requirements are:

AAB-ABB in two sciences. Must include one from Biology or Chemistry, and one from either Biology, Chemistry, Maths or Physics. You will need to pass the science practical element of the A-level if this is part of your programme of study.

In terms of GCSEs the requirements are:

You must also have or be working towards:- English language or Welsh language at GCSE grade B/6 or, where GCSEs have not been taken, an acceptable equivalent. If you require a Student visa, you must ensure your language qualification complies with UKVI requirements.- three GCSEs at grade B/6 including Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, or equivalent qualifications (subject and grade). Double science may be accepted in place of separate sciences.

I would say that its definitely worth contacting the Cardiff admissions team and asking about this, especially given that you're unsure if you'd be eligible for contextual offer, as they would know the most about this. You can contact them at this link here.

I wish you the best on your applications, do let us know what you end up deciding to do!
