grade requirement for sixth form entry

hey, I'm currently applying to a few sixth forms and I was wondering if anyone who goes to/got accepted to these schools could give me some advice on whether these predicted grades would be good enough to get a conditional from the schools i'm applying to
(i'm taking a level maths, fm, physics and comp sci, except for hbs where i'm applying for chem instead of comp sci). I don't live too close to any of these so i was a bit worried for admissions.

the schools i'm applying to:
henrietta barnett
tiffin girls
nonsuch girls
st olave's
and my predicted:
Maths: 9
Physics: 9
Chemistry:9
Biology: 9
Further Maths: 9
Additional Maths: B
Economics: 8
English Literature: 8
English Lang: 9
Computer Sci: 9
French: 7

my current top choice is tiffin (since they offer comp sci unlike hbs) but any advice is very much appreciated!

Hey so i applied to Tiffin girls and am currently studying there....I think if you achieve the grades u've mentioned you have a good chance of getting in...I have 9s in 9 subjects and an 8 in one and am studying maths, furthermaths, physics, chemistry and economics and doing astronomy gcse externally....tiffins dont do conditional offers btw..
And with the computer science, don't let that put you off other schools....even with my grades i applied for computer science instead of econ but didnt get a place for that ( infact I dont think it was even given to externals)...im not sure how it'll be for your year so deffo give it a go...
i applied for henrietta as well but they got back to me pretty late ( about a week into term) so i didnt take up that...i didnt get the conditional offer ( i was waitlisted) because my predicted grades werent great
Lae (stratford for me) were pretty lenient with their grade req i think...i know people who go there with a couple of 6s (not that 6s are bad in any way) Similar thing with brampton manor....i got into both...they're really good schools but i think they have a huge cohort (the reason that put me off btw) so you can get in with some decent mixes of 7s 8s and 9s
Nonsuch and wallington i'm not too sure but talking to some people who have moved from there to Tiffins, you dont need straight nines...just a good mix of them..

Hope that helps! Do let me know if you have any questions

hi, thanks for the info, that's rlly helpful! i got predicted a bit lower than what i expect to get at gcse (i'm aiming for straight 9's since i rlly wanna go to trinity cambridge). the comp sci thing is a bit disappointing tbh, I really like comp sci but it seems so few good schools offer it at a level (also, do you know how they decided who got a place in cs?). i'm prioritising tiffin a) because they offer cs and b) they take post gsce results and I'm praying I can lock in for those haha, but if i don't get a place in cs i might prioritise hbs. also, what's tiffin/ going to a grammar like since i've never gone to grammar schl and i've heard you have to study 20/7 to not get kicked out...

No worries lol
That sounds really great! Just as a reminder tho, If ur doing Further Maths, U do 5 subjects in the first year....Its called route 2 maths (maths+ fm)...so I do route 2 maths, physics, chem and econ
I'm not sure how the seats for cs were allocated tbh...i've tried asking to be put on a waitlist if people drop out but the problem is that its so over subscribed
I went to a non selective school too during gcse so my jump between gcse and a levels were hugeee....id really reccommend ignoring the first few test results if u do get in....the tests are insanely harder than the actual papers but i guess it does prepare you well for the actual thing
I really like it here tbh cuz its hard and challenging but the competition makes it almost like a game lol! And well, like you, I hope to study at a academically challenging university (Oxford physics) so this does give you the experience of being surrounded by smart people lol. One thing i do regret is not working over the summer after gcse tho....I know this might seem like a bummer esp after working so hard for gcses but just spend some time working through a level textbooks...it'll deffo save you the heartbreak of looking at your first a level grades...esp being a high achiever at gcses it deffo was a shock but at the same time it was a slap in the face to work harder lol
Its a good school....we get a lot of support and learn in all aspects ( not only in the subjects but about the devil and lgbtq animals and the south american drug trade for example lmao...what im tryna say is that the school really makes you a knowledgable person in all aspects)
Good luck with your GCSEs!!

You need to check how they allocate places as all these schools will be over-subscribed.

generally they seem to say they prioritise internals, disadvantaged students and people who live within a radius of the school. i'm not really any of these things, hence why I was nervous for applications

Heya, st olaves and wallington don't give conditional offers so its more important for you to actually get the grades on results day, I think as long as you get those grades you'll get into both. As for the others, I'm not too sure as I just don't have experience with those schools! Good luck

thank you so much! I'm glad since I'm hoping to do better in the actual exams  do you go to either currently?

I don't but I do know people who go to both olaves, wallington county grammar and wallington girls. I can try and answer any questions you might have 😁

Hey- current Olavian here. Been here since year 7. Your sixth form entry depends on how many points you get. It is 63 points minimum in your best 9 GCSEs. As far as I know it’s roughly 250 in the cohort every year for year 12. Naturally the more points you get the better, given that practically all Year 11 olavians continue into year 12 so at least 100 spots will go from there. And you will need to send a proof of your gcse results ON THE DAY! on the portal. So yes it all does depend on that, naturally do your best and if you do get in it’s a brilliant school which nurtures you fantastically. All the best!
