Bristol or Birmingham for politics and IR?

Hi, I have offers from both and after attending open days can't decide which to firm. I hold unconditionals from both as I'm applying with achieved grades. My subject is politics and international relations and j was wondering on advice on which to pick and the student experience/job prospects from either. I like Bristol as a city more but Birmingham being so much cheaper puts them on equal footing in my opinion.

Yes Birmingham had a great campus but Bristol was also very picturesque. The city vs campus thing doesn't massively bother me as I still get the students feeling at Bristol. But overall its more like Birmingham campus>>Bristol uni location. But the city as a whole Bristol is better atleast in my opinion (Like to have easy access to nature and Bristol gives me that).

Look carefully at the course structure and the optional units available for each course, and for all years of each course. Think about which units you would actually choose if you went there.

Are there any extras available like study abroad or a work placement - these add enormously to your degree, and make you more attractive to graduate employers.

If there are any Offer Holder visit days, its worth going to these two Unis and making a direct comparison of each course / Uni / city.

Bristol without question. I know Birmingham extremely well, and it is a very good uni. Bristol is just even better, both academically, and in the beauty of the campus.

Hello, I'm a current Student Ambassador for the University of Birmingham, and would certainly recommend studying there! The campus is lovely and has lots of amenities, and feels like it's own little town outside of Birmingham. Employability for Birmingham is very good at 87.2% after graduation, and is the top university for graduate employers in 2024. https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/study/student-experience/careers-and-employability
