The Student Room Group

Are my stats good enough for LSE?

I’ve applied for law with anthropology, which asks for AAB and a strong gcse profile at LSE

Predicted - AAB (things went wrong in my exams I genuinely didn’t perform as I would have, I’d definitely do better than this in the real thing)

GCSES- 9998777766
I have a 6 in maths, it was a 5 at first (one mark off the grade boundary for a 6 but I ended up resitting the GCSE to get that 6)

Does that mean LSE and other Russel groups won’t take me?
I’ve had an offer from Southampton, which asked for AAA for law, and I’m currently waiting on the others. I’ve heard it’s not so difficult to get in there but I’m pretty happy considering I didn’t even meet the grade requirements.

I’m just curious to see if I shouldn’t get my hopes up for LSE. I’d say my reference and personal statement are pretty strong. I’m not eligible for a contextual offer.

Feel free to be honest and brutal (but not too brutal)… do I have a chance?
Firstly, congrats on your Southampton offer. The fact you applied to LSE is good, no shame in trying. By no means are your predicted grades bad but if you have extenuating circumstances, that may explain why your predicted grades aren't higher. Also, LSE tends to be very personal statement focused, so if the academic selector likes your personal statement, you would have a good chance at getting an offer, but who knows?

At the end of the day, thinking about whether or not you have a chance of getting into LSE will lead to more stress, so best not to think of it, but that is easier said than done. Plus already having that Southampton offer should give you some peace of mind and motivation.
