Student finance working during university

Hi,

My husband and I started studying in September. He has settled status, while I currently have pre-settled status. His student finance is all set, but mine has been a bit complicated. He should support my application, but I've started working, and he hasn't received a contract or payslips from his last employer for the past few months. His previous employer paid him after 8 weeks, and he only received one invoice. I decided to inform them about this and now I need to provide clear and valid proof.

I started working full-time at Amazon on November 22nd.

One question: I won't receive my first payment yet because the contract should have started at the same time we began university. At that time, I was doing cleaning work for friends around the city, but I wasn't self-employed.
If I manage to get some sort of handwritten invoice for the amount of work I done and how much I got paid from the cleaning job , will this work out ? Can I use them as proofs ?

Also, my contract with Amazon ends today because the warehouse isn't very busy. I have a 3-year-old child and will be staying at home to take care of the baby while my husband works. Should I let them know about this situation, and what should I do next to manage it?

Hi Valentina,

Are you applying to us as a Migrant Worker? When did you start employment with the cleaning job and regarding your current job, have you obtained new employment? Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason
My husband is supposed to support my application (he has settled status). However, he started working for a company, trusting they would be honest with him. He received something like a employment contract but did not get any payslips from them. After eight weeks, the company paid him the amount he had earned along with an invoice, stating that the payment was for self-employed work. As a result, I don't have strong evidence from him as a employee to support my application because he left that company for not trust and put our family in a difficult situation. He is also self-employed and working fewer hours now. I'm not sure if this will be sufficient to support my application, so I have started looking for a job myself.

Hi ValentinaBrd,

You mentioned you started working in your initial message but have now advised you are looking for work.

Did your course start in September, October, November or December?

If so, can you confirm if you or your husband would have evidence of employment since the 1st of September?

Thanks, Clare

The course start in September.
He was working with a company and they promised him to be a employed job but they was laying about everything around company.

They provide him a fake employed contract and they tried to not pay him around 8 weeks. After we reported them to HMRC and called Acas for help. They change the rules and provide him a invoice ( even not some amount of money) and make him to agree.as a self employed payment and never goes back in there.
That's why I can't prouf payslips from him because there isn't and that contract is not available. After I realised I don't have this evidence I take the decision to get a job myself whit a full time contract but this it was for Christmas busy time with Amazon.
I didn't know and I didn't realise my husband is still a self-employed and this can help me and my application.

Hi ValentinaBrd,

If he was considered to be self employed at that time, we would need the letter that confirms the UTR number with the invoices and bank statements from September (include 3 months of evidence if available). This evidence is required if you wish to apply for the Maintenance Loan if you hold pre settled status only.

Thanks, Clare

Exactly this it was my question. If I wanted to do this change again is ok? He got his UTR number for 1-2 years. To be honest his last 3 months income as a self employed is not much. This will gone affects something?
He was looking after a employed job.

Hi ValentinaBrd

Yes, just upload that evidence of self employment to be reviewed. He can explain in a cover letter the situation regarding the employment. Also, it would be best to also provide evidence to show that he was /is looking for employment such as interview confirmation/receipt of applications etc.

Hi ValentinaBrd,

Only the assessors can confirm that once they have reviewed the evidence.

If you upload the evidence I mentioned, they can look into this for you.

Our current timescales are approximately 16 working days, with subject to change depending on our current volumes.
